These terms cover the use of Sound Atlas, a private music library operated by Hooman Takhtechian. They are short, because the service is small and free.
Sound Atlas is invitation-only. An account is created by the operator for a named person; there is no public sign-up. By signing in, that person agrees to these terms. If you do not agree to them, do not sign in, and ask for the account to be removed.
Sound Atlas keeps a catalogue of songs and the ratings its listeners give them, and builds ranked lists from those ratings. It runs as a desktop application and an Android app that share one library. It is offered free of charge. There is no subscription, no advertising, and nothing is sold, including data.
Connecting a YouTube account is optional. If you connect one, you are also agreeing to the YouTube Terms of Service, and Google's handling of your data is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.
Sound Atlas uses that connection for one purpose: when you ask it to publish a list, it creates a playlist in your YouTube account, or adds songs to a playlist you selected. It does not read your watch history, subscriptions, comments or uploads, and it does not touch playlists you did not choose. The one thing it may remove is a playlist Sound Atlas itself created, and only when you ask for that list to be replaced.
You can disconnect at any time in the app, or at myaccount.google.com/permissions, which revokes the permission immediately.
Your ratings and playlists remain yours. The service exports them on request, and deletes them, or the whole account, on request. What is kept and for how long is set out in the privacy policy.
Sound Atlas is provided as it is, without warranty of any kind. It is a personal project run by one person: it may be unavailable, it may lose data, and features may change or disappear. To the extent the law allows, the operator is not liable for any loss arising from use of the service. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
You may stop using Sound Atlas at any time and ask for your account to be deleted. The operator may withdraw an account, with notice where practical, if these terms are broken or if the service is discontinued.
If these terms change materially, the date above changes and anyone with an account is told before the change takes effect.
These terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates, and the courts of Dubai have jurisdiction over any dispute.
